This project transformed a vacation house into a full-time residence with room for extended family and friends to gather. An expanded kitchen with bamboo cabinets is the focus of family life, with bar seating for grandkids and a breakfast table with views for the grandparents. A new dining room connects the 3 story addition which respects the form of the existing home while providing guest, office, and entertainment spaces. Southern views with new triple-glazed fiberglass windows provide great passive solar gain- the house needs no heat on sunny winter days and is primarily heated with a woodstove.
